Hi I’m Chloe, a registered Midwife and certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
My Midwifery career began in 2008 after graduating from Kings College London. Being a Midwife became my passion as I learnt how precious pregnancy, birth and parenthood really is. Today I feel extremely lucky that I have had the opportunity to share so many wonderful journeys with such a huge number of incredible women and their families.
My twelve years of Midwifery practice has predominantly been within the NHS, working at the wonderful St Thomas’ Hospital. A variety of roles and additional training has allowed me to explore many aspects of Midwifery. I’ve rotated around the wards, worked on clinical and community research trials and lead as a community breastfeeding Midwife in one of London’s busiest boroughs. More recently I’ve worked in the A&E for pregnancy, assessing women and liaising with the Obstetric team to make decisions.
I qualified as a Lactation Consultant in 2015 and have worked privately as an IBCLC since then. Outside of the hospital setting, I am part of ‘The Happy Birth Club’ team, providing antenatal classes with Beverley Turner and Pam Wild. In the ‘Happy Birth Book’ I am author of the breast-feeding chapter.
In 2010 I volunteered at a fantastic birthing centre in Bali where women were treated and supported with holistic therapies. Observing the benefits of this care, instilled a passion to learn about more alternative practices. I took a course in the use of aromatherapy oil in labour and in 2013 I qualified as a Midwife Homeopath, as well as a baby massage instructor.
Currently I am training to become a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and am very excited to share this new and very relevant knowledge with women in my care.
Whilst I have great loyalty and support for the NHS, a combination of, a move to Kent and the passion for individualised care, has lead to the decision of practicing as a private Midwife.
I am currently a member of ‘Private Midwives’. I work independently and also as a duo alongside my Midwife colleague ‘Lisa McDonald’ (Midwife4you). We take on clients in and around Kent and London, providing boutique maternity and lactation care packages. We both have different skills sets, which allows for a broader knowledge available to our clients.
We can work and accommodate to your preferences, but suggest meeting us both together before making any choices. We work closely and speak daily to ensure we are up to date with all our clients wants and needs.
How we work
We are caring, kind and thoughtful Midwives who do not believe in the ‘tough love’ approach. We have a relaxed, light-hearted attitude, joining you on your journey in laughter, tears, chocolate eating and a big hug when needed. We will be honest and open during discussions surrounding topics relating to the health of you and your baby. We believe in giving information based on experience, as well as evidence-based research, allowing you to make your own informed decisions which we endeavour to then support. Listening well and problem solving are two of our key strengths.
Throughout your care we will make suggestions of holistic therapies and give dietary guidance when requested. Although Lisa and I work independently, we have a fabulous network of fellow private and NHS Midwives, as well as many other professionals in our field that we can discuss and bounce ideas off, lending support when needed. We will help connect you with local groups and networks to attend as you progress from pregnancy to motherhood.
